How To Stay Clutter Free Right Now With This Simple Strategy

Pink sticky note

It can be a daunting task to stay clutter free. This is especially true for those who have children. Cluttering can affect how we live our lives daily. This is why it’s very important to always stay on top of maintaining a clean environment.

Living as a minimalist will aid in having too many items. This can help you be in a mentality that unnecessary possessions are not needed. In this article

What Is The Best Way You Can Stay Clutter Free?

Reminder.

Set a reminder to declutter every week. Doing so will train your brain to be more conscious of what possessions you are keeping. Having a reminder helps you to overall form a habit of cleaning.

Why keep a weekly reminder?

Keeping a weekly reminder instead of a monthly reminder will help in more frequent cleaning. Frequent cleaning is the best way to stay clutter free. Anything longer than a week just encourages you to leave things that should be thrown out to just sit around occupying space.

Think of your closet. How often do you clean your closet? Cleaning weekly help you to better organize your closet instead of waiting a long time to clean it. This trickles down to other parts of your house as well.

What can you use to reminder yourself?

Should you use your phone or a physical paper reminder? Both have their benefits.

Pros with using a phone as a reminder

  • Faster
  • Cheaper
  • Portable
  • Automatic

Pros with using a paper reminder

  • Tangible
  • Retain information better
  • Visual reminder

Both can be used with great result. I recommend physically write things down as it forces you to retain information better than typing on your phone.

Unnecessary purchases

Only buy what you need. Stop purchasing things that you are not going to use. This is one of the reason that cluttering accumulates. Ask yourself if what your are buying is really needed. Separate your wants from your needs. I had an addiction to buying different kinds of shoes and sneakers. These were my wants and not my needs. In reality I don’t need that many pairs of footwear.

Limiting my wants has helped stay clutter free. It’s important to not restrict yourself from your wants entirely. Minimalism will help you to find a balance.

Conclusion

These two tips in my opinion are the most useful in fighting clutter. Setting a reminder to clean and stop purchasing wants will aid in fewer clutter overall.
